This evening I am thinking about the topic of worry. These song lyrics came to mind right away, “In your life expect some trouble. But, when you worry you make it double. So don’t worry. Be happy.” Good advice from Bobby McFerrin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yv-Fk1PwVeU.
Then I thought, have faith, the best possible outcome will happen when you do your best, focus on gratitude, and don’t worry.
I get a lot of inspiration from reading good quotes. So I looked up some random ones related to worry.
“Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.” – Corrie Ten Boom
This one cracks me up because it’s true – from Johnny Cash – “Success is having to worry about every damn thing in the world, except money.”
Stress and worry, they solve nothing. What they do is block creativity. You are not even able to think about the solutions. Every problem has a solution – Susan L. Taylor
I like this one from Johnny Cash too, although indirectly related to worry – “You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don’t try to forget the mistakes, but you don’t dwell on it. You don’t let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.”
And finally, some ancient spiritual wisdom, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” – Psalms
Some good words to meditate on. Don’t worry, be happy.
