Blog 202 – Changing You Changes Everything

Ingraining daily habits that make life better through self discipline and development are some of the big ideas underlying The 365 Commitment.

What you do everyday physically, mentally, spiritually, socially, economically drives the trajectory of your life. We can take a hard look at ourselves and “see” what exactly our habits are.  Where are we headed if we continue living life as we always have before?  Is the trajectoty we’re on going where we want to go?

Richard Pryor was already a very successful comedian in the 1960s. His act was basically a mimic of Bill Cosby’s, very similar.  He was on tv shows often and had a Vegas show; success many comedians only dream about. One day he walked off stage and left it all behind. Doing so damaged his reputation.  No matter, he was through with being and acting in a way that was not true to himself.

He changed!  He got a new act, but he was no longer acting like someone else, he became himself – his comedy became about what mattered, his transformation changed his trajectory toward super stardom, and he became an Icon in American culture, comedy and movies impacting the lives of millions, maybe billions; a  stark example of how changing how we go about things will change what happens in our lives.

What do you need to change about your act. What are you doing that you should walk away from?  When you make that change, what bright star are you now aiming for?

Richard Pryor did not drop all of his bad habits of course.  But, that is beside the point. The point is when he changed, his life changed.  And, the same will happen to us when we start focusing on what matters.
