Day 23 of 84 – The ReBirthDay

The concept of Rebirth has been around for a long time. finds its way into religious doctrine, literature, pop culture and a variety of other places. I was watching a video clip yesterday in their airport and they were talking about the rebirth of some musician (I have no idea who she was). I was laughing because the girl is 23, how can you need a “rebirth” of your career at 23?

Anyway I think every religion has this concept, some more literal then others. The endless cycle concept in Buddhism, to the Christian resurrection every faith has this concept. Our popular culture is mesmerized by the concept, even Luke Skywalker needed to experience a rebirth to become great again. I think we are wired somehow to think like this, the theme is too prevalent, too universal, almost ubiquitous.

So I do not think we should fight it. Lets just go along with it. If you belong to a particular religion, then you can embrace whatever that concept is and / or you can create your own rebirth day. In fact, why do we even care what day we were born? The day that I took my first breath? Perhaps, it should be Mom’s that get the accolades on the birthday – after all they did all the work! So we celebrate birthdays – but perhaps we should consider celebrating the rebirth day!

My rebirth day was January 7th, 2018. 542 days ago. That was the day I started keeping this 365 Commitment. I have not missed a day since. That is really the day that I care about the most now. Why is January 7th special? It is not. Not at all. It just took 6 days past New Years in 2018 for me to get my act together. Your rebirth day does not need to be a special day. It can be any day. Like, what about July 2nd, 2019 – that could be your rebirth day! Make a commitment and keep it starting today!

You can become your own hero. You can rise up out of the ashes, the Phoenix born again! You can paint your own story of rising to the occasion, you can be Rocky Balboa picking himself off the Mat and standing once again! You have the power to be reborn. It starts today! It starts now! Choose to be different. Choose to make today awesome!
