I really am not sure how to unwind. My entire life people would tell me, you need to unwind. Or they would say often, I had some time to unwind over the weekend. Unwinding implies someone was wound all up and then they let everything out in a big tangled mess. Unwinding to me always meant, taking a giant leap backwards. However, if you are experiencing a lot of worry or stress about something then the word unwind actually has a good meaning.

If you continue to worry about something you will begin to become irrational, it is just what happens. SO after a worrisome event, it is a great idea to unwind which means – do an activity that requires little to no effort, preferably outside. TV or Internet browsing is not good, just causes more stress. Unwind removes you from the worry.
