The 365 Commitment

You Are Not THAT Special

Ok, you are awesome. I am sure of it. You have a lot going for you, a lot of potential, perhaps you are really good at one or two things. However, you are not special. You see, you are human and part of a large human family. You are more like people than you realize. Do you have a problem? Several million other people do as well. Do you like to do something, several million other people do as well. Do you have a quirk, a fettish, an illness? Yup, that is right, millions of others do as well.

In fact it is very rare for anything about you to be disinctly unique. Perhaps that is why really wierd people like Andy Warhol stuck out so much, because they were unique enough for people to notice. There have been many that do stick out, but they are more of a representative than a person of unique characteristics.

We become unique by a combination of characteristics, and the almost infinite number of charateristic combinations guarantee that we are each actually individually unique, almost like fingerprint of the embodiment of all that we are. Putting religious ideas aside, like pre existence, or eternal existence of a soul, or some other concept around the inception of personality we have a molecular DNA structure that is almost infinite in the possible number of combinations. That is not because the DNA itself produces the uniqueness. Most of us oversimplify DNA as if there is one single type of strand in a human.

Reality there is an entire exome of DNA combinations and types and the number of changes introduced each generation are staggering. The possibility of uniqueness is a foregone conclusion based on the fact that each generations of humans modify and change the combination of traits and other features. There is a lot we still do not understand, even at that.

The point is that you are not really special, but you are certainly unique.
