Blog 145 – How Will Yo Respond?

What will happen in a year if I keep my daily commitments for 365 days?  How will I change if I maintain good habits and focus on incremental improvement for an entire year?  What will I learn about myself?  How will the universe respond?

For me these questions are quite compelling; so much so that when I am lagging they motivate me to stay on track.  I really am curious to see what the answers will be.  The only way I can get a true answer is to stay the course.

No doubt life is inherently difficult.  How I cope with that that, how I respond to that is really the larger question.  Some people go through difficulty, are victimized, are harmed, and they emerge from those experiences angry at the injustice of it, or bitter at the world.  These are understandable and in many ways justifiable, and common. Such responses lead to actions that seem to make things worse.  For example, a person can stop taking care of themselves, engage in self harm, or they can lash out at others out of spite and anger.  Not good.

The alternative is to focus on making things better, taking care of ourselves and using all our capacity to fix the problems we face is a better solution to the difficulty of the world that resentment and anger.  The 365 Commitment is a tool, a process that helps us focus and effectively deal with  the challenges we face.

If you are tempted to indulge in anger or revenge consider this alternative, focus on getting yourself together. Realize that anger and resentment and revenge only cause more pain in life.  Instead, ask yourself what is most important, and seek to apply yourself toward those things.  Choose to respond to life’s difficulties with grace and love and toughness.

Use the 365 Commitment and find out what happens in a year when to apply daily good habits.
