Understanding what real progress is can be somewhat difficult. However, most people can sense when they are improving. The harder thing to understand is how to actually make real progress.
I USED to think real progress was made in a giant leap ahead. A monumentous moment of greatness and once that occurred I could worry about the very trivial details of maintaining what I had accommplished. The problem is that I end up waiting a long time.
NOW I think that I was completely wrong. Real progress comes by regular and routine daily progress. Following this course, I can make significant improvements in as little as 3 months.
So you want to make real progress? Then develop a good habit.
