Blog 203 – Love Displaces Fear

You are not failing if you have goals.

Cool, I have goals . . . I’m good!

You are not failing as long as you do not give up.

Ok, I got this . . . I can say with reasonable assurance that I have not given up! I’m good here.

You are not failing if you do not give into fear.

Oops! What if I have fear? What if I am agraid of what others will think of me? Afraid of appearing/being foolish? What if fear of failure has paralyzed me? How do I deal with it?!

Fear of failure is worse than failure, because failure is merely short term, a momentary phenomenon. But, fear of failing goes on and on, hangs around, lingers and looms. And, worst of all causes you to fail for not trying! It’s much worse than failing. In fact failure is our friend, our teacher, many many things can only be learned through failure, like riding a bike – no one gets on a bike and rides perfectly the first time. You must fall to become a competent rider. But, fear of failure is a thief that will rob you of even a chance, no ride, no glorious failure, just woulda coulda . . . crap.

How can we deal with fear of failure? I don’t think more courage or faith is the answer.  A mother doesn’t protect her child out of courage, but out of love.  Love banishes fear.

So, if fear is the stumbling block keeping you from using your talents, then use the power of love to step right over it. Pursue your goal in the name of love, love of others,  love toward the source of consciousness and life, use love as the fuel that burns in your heart and drives you past fear of failure. Because, even if you do not meet your goal and you fail, . . . love never fails, and the positive energy that you bring to your effort will send positive ripples into the universe and that is always worthy and good.

What are you doing with your life?  Playing it safe? Love is the antidote to fear. Find it, be it, exude it.
