As you start on the path, make commitments and set out on your journey to reach some distant objective on the horizon, you should bring others with you.
Going for a run, going for a bike ride, going for a bike is always easier with another going along with you. They help you stay focused, they hold you accountable, they provide you support.
The problem is that as soon as you bring others along, and let people know what you are doing the commitment becomes very real.
Let’s face it. Your ego is a massive motivator. So I suggest using it to your advantage. Stop being embarrassed with your struggle and let people know.
I think you will discover that there are a lot more people willing to jump to your aid then you realize. You expect ridicule but you will get the opposite.
So involve others to make your commitments even stronger.
