I had a fit of rage (or perhaps it was inspiration) yesterday. I got absolutely pissed off about the constant flow of CRAP being sent my way. In my email boxes (many of them), my social media feeds (many of them), my mailbox, my desktop (both on computer and on actual desk), my voicemail, and my txt messages. The important ones get lost in a sea of CRAP flowing in constantly. I cannot keep on top of it and it drives me crazy and stressed me out constantly. I am taking a quote from JESUS on this one seriously:
“if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee”
Ok, so maybe he was talking about sin and all that. But in my case I am talking about EMAIL. All of this noise offends me, and causes me tremendous anxiety. Well I declare – NO MORE. I declare freedom from the oppression! I will not be slave any longer to what other people, robots, companies, politicians want me to consume. I will consume what is important to me and NOTHING else.
From this point forward at the end of each day, I am going to DELETE EVERYTHING. That is right. I will do a quick scan and review at the end of my day and if it is not important – it is going in the trash, shredder, or recycle bin. I will start everyday with a clean slate.
Freedom from forced anxiety starts with the DELETE key. This is a bold move. I declare that if it was not important enough to act on now – it is not important, or I need to deliberately do something with it so that I will have to work on it later. If it is important to my personal or business objectives then it is WORTHY of being scheduled for later review.
I am plucking out this nuisance in my life once and for all. I am still going to use these things, but only as TOOLS. I refuse to be captivated by other agendas. My agenda, my God inspired agenda that I commited to in the morning is far more important then the 32,769 unread emails in my inbox.
Say goodbye nagging emails. In most email platforms – CTRL or COMMAND-A, DELETE. I dare you.
