Blog 100 – The Better Box

Writing a blog everyday whether I feel like it or not has been a welcome challenge.  Today’s blog is number 100, a nice round number.  It is funny the significance we put on numbers like 100.  It is really no different than any other number, other than it being the base of our number system squared.  If our culture used a base 8 numbering system I suppose 64 would be special in a similar way, and we would have $64 dollar bills instead of $100 bills. We would have octennials instead of centennials.  But hey, I’m not trying to take the luster off of the number 100 by noticing stuff like this. I’m just aware that we operate and think inside of constructs that are a bit arbitrary and create meanings and limitations that only apply within them. The cliche “think outside the box” encourages us to escape the mental constructs we may be trapped in.

Breaking out of boxes that are not serving us is what the 365 Commitment is all about.  We take “I can’t” out to the woodshed and beat the crap out of it, metaphorically speaking.    We focus on a limitation or a point of failure and test it, figure it out.  We ask, what will it take to turn it into an “I can”?

I’m not saying that limitations are not real.  I’m just saying that the one’s you are currently living with and believing in may not be.  Worthwhile, meaningful and satisfying prizes are just outside the box you have trapped yourself in.  Whether it is writing a book, running a marathon, increasing wealth, creating a healthy and successful organization, experiencing deeply meaningful and positive relationships with other people,  growing spiritually, or making a positive difference in the world,  know that you can do it.  What ever it is for you, just follow the 365 Commitment process and you will make it happen.  If you want to break out of the box you’ve been stuck in, jump into the 365 Commitment box for a year, and see what happens in your life.  It is a better box!

Figure out what you want, determine a daily habit that will move you inexorably toward your vision and commit to it.  There are no shortcuts in the 365 box, there is daily incremental effort toward the things you truly desire, there is making and keeping an unwavering commitment to the habits of body, mind and spirit of your choosing.  Start with the solid foundation of 365 Commitment habits (outlined n the front page of this website), and then add your own particular daily habits that you know will move you toward your vision.

Use the 365 Commitment to break past false limitations.  It is not easy, it’s just the easiest way that works.
