Tyler’s Revenge – 38 Days Left

Dear Maggots:

This is Tyler. Guy is still sleeping in this morning. I let him watch a show last night on TV and eat a scoop of Gelato. Wimp. Wuss. Soft &#!%$. I will refrain from using any foul language – as I need Guy to keep his job! This blog is going to be short. Guy is hurting this morning. I ran over an hour of sprints in the early AM yesterday, followed by a 6 mile tempo run chaser later in the evening. I was ready to head to the gym and get in an hour of strength training too, but Guy started freaking out and letting his mental mindset melt down. Geez, if I could just get him to suck it up once and a while we might actually achieve our dreams.

The problem with Guy, and probably with you, is that you think to dang much. Stop thinking. Stop contemplating. Just go get your commitment done. You do not need any fancy motivation or inspiration just start getting it done and repeat. You are the problem. Blame no one else. Blame only you. The separation from you and your dream is your mind. Beat that sucker into submission. Do what you have to do, do what you do not want to do, do what sucks and you will be better. You will discover what I did last night. When I started that run, it hurt – and that was my que – to pour it on even more. Run right into the hurt and after another mile or two, I started to feel great. The rush of additional adrenaline from the sympathetic nervous system brought a grin to my face.

Some of you have some soft touchy feely commitments. Fine. Same principle. Get it done. Stop avoiding it. Decide right now. I am going to do it today. I do not know how, I do not need to think through it, I just need to decide. Decide that you will get it done today. If you are waiting for tomorrow, you will always be waiting for tomorrow. If you are waiting until the first of the week, then you will see the weeks roll by one after another. You will never find a Monday that looks good. If you are waiting for inspiration, then you are a cupcake. People that get their commitments done vomit inspiration cupcakes on the side of a steady and brutal march to their dreams. Life is suffering. Get the freak over it. Things in life are going to suck no matter what, so you might as well suffer doing something that is going to actually improve your life!

If you want something bad enough in life, you will be up and done with a regime and litany of life changing commitments while the rest of the lemmings are marching toward the cliff of mediocrity. Ok, Guy is just getting up now. He has to get on some silly business calls and sit in his office chair and get all comatose blabbing away about this and that. What he does not realize is that I have created a plan for him starting with an hour at noon, a double dose of strength training in the gym and extended back to back long runs through the weekend. Oh yeah. The hurt is coming. He is going regret that moment of weakness eating that Gelato last night instead of what he was supposed to do.

From now on. When Guy wimps out, the next day is double time. Every time he skips a pushup, next day he is doing 5 extra. Every time he eats a cookie, he is going to to run an extra 5 miles. Oh Yeah. I will let that little fire ant eat his sugary snack, but when he does – it is on like Donkey Kong.
