Blog 161- Early is Better -and- Blast Past Sticking Points

Getting up early and engaging in a morning routine of good habits seems to really improve the quality of the day.  This morning I woke a little after 5am and went for my morning walk/run.

For me, getting outside in the early morning feels good in a connecting with nature/earth kind of way.  Even though I’m in a suburban neighborhood, the fresh morning air, the cool mist that has been happening for the past week, and the relative quiet are enjoyable and better for exercising than indoors.  So far I’ve completed my 100 air-squats,  but still need to get another 15 pull-ups completed to reach my goal of 50 for the day.   I think getting these done early in the morning is the way to go, otherwise they nag me all day – which is a good sign I guess, because by conscience nagging me must be a sign of a strong habit.

Today’s list is easy for me to create, because it’s pretty much the same as yesterday’s. In fact it is yesterday’s list.  After I had made my initial list, a friend who is a master mechanic, offered to help me with a project that has been languishing in my garage for years, so I re-prioritized!

We finished tearing down my motorcycle engine!  This has been a major sticking point and has held up this project for a looong time.  Sometimes you have to get to the bottom of an issue before you can re-build.  Feels good to get past this sticking point!  Now, I can move forward and complete the repairs and put it all back together!

I’m looking forward to checking in at the end of this day and enjoying that feeling of accomplishment.  As of this moment I can check off one item – writing this blog!  In about one minute I’m going to finish those 15 pull-ups!  Onward into a good day of productive and focused effort.

So I say, get up and get after it early each day, blast through sticking points when you have the opportunity, and stay focused on what is most important.  I hope your day is good!
