When struggling to get over an obstacle, get out of a rut, or get momentum going it might be a good idea to turn to my 3X solution.

You are not going to like it. You are going to hate it three times. Curious? Here is the trick.

I am an absolute proponent of starting habits at the least common denominator. The easiest thing that you can conceive that you can repeat. This is an essential concept of habit building, starting small. However, the X3 solution is for when you just cannot seem to do anything. It is for when you are paralyzed, stuck, and having a hard time getting started.

Here is the secret. Like I said, you are not going to like it. However, it works! Think about what it is that you do not want to do. The new thing that you know you should be doing and you need to start to get out of your funk. Then simply do it at the 3X the effort for the next 3 days. That is right! Kick your own ass for 3 days and 3 times the workload. You are going to hate it, it is going to suck, but here is what is going to happen.

You are going to do it anyway, you are going to make it throw it. You are going to think, wow, I did it and it was not that bad. Then you are going to just start doing the simple, easy to repeat thing. Now you are on your way, habit started and you no longer in a bad spot.

I have done this many times, and it just works. Give it a shot, go the extra. Do it 3 times as much and do that for 3 days. Look at it this way. You are only 3 days away from getting out of the downward spiral you are in. Only 3 days! Now go and do what really really really sucks for 3 days!
