The 365 Commitment

Two Masters

Of the many teachings that are unique to Jesus, the one in which he tells his disciples that no one can serve two masters, stands out. Perhaps because it is absolutely true. Originally translated, many scholars think that he originally meant that no man can be a slave to two mastera. This even adds more significance to the concept.
Although it might be legally possible to be owned by or owe a debt to two parties, it would be psychologically impossible to serve both. As Jesus said, you will hate the one if you love the other.
Yet, as simple as this concept is, mamy of us go through life with many masters. Feeling torn constantly between what we want to do amd we should, or have to do. You will lie to yourself and say that you have to make money and therefore you are required to be a certain way. It is amazing how we will reinforce this illusion by compelling the reality.
Here is the truth. You can survive in today’s world doong just about any thing, so what is real reason? Most likely? You are trying to serve two masters.
Are failing to achieve a goal? A dream? An objective? Two Masters. Choose to serve only one and watch your struggle fade.
