If you could start on January 1st and do one thing everyday for a year and achieve a dream of yours would you do it?
If all you had to do, was do one thing everyday for 365 days in a row then you could have a result that you really wanted, would you make that firm commitment?
See I believe this. I have complete faith in this concept. The reason? I have proven that it works, undeniably. I will give you a few examples.
- I wanted to run a marathon. So I told myself if I ran everyday for 365 days in a row, then I would be able to run and do well in a marathon. Sure enough, I ran everyday and I finished a marathon in exactly 4 hours. Not the best time, but certainly not the worse either. I was definitely not walking!
- I wanted to lose weight. I set a target that I wanted to achieve. I recorded what I ate with exactness everyday for 365 days in a row and guess what? I lost the weight. Just that one simple thing, everyday, produced the result.
- I wanted to improve my memory. So I worked on memorizing the first 1000 digits of PI. I practiced for 10 minutes everyday for 365 days in a row. When I got done, I could recite a 1000 digits of Pi like I was telling a favorite story. I improved my memory and brain function as a result.
- I wanted to become a better writer. So I committed to write this blog everyday for 365 days in a row. I did that, and now I no longer fear writing. I sort of enjoy it. I just do it naturally, it is just part of me. I may not be the best at it, but I am certainly over the fear of it and it is no longer hard for me to do.
The point is that you can do anything you want, just figure out what your goal is and then determine the one thing that you can do everyday for 365 days in a row that will help you get there. You will do much more than that one thing, but that is not the point. The one thing everyday puts you into the right mode. It helps you make progress everyday, rather than having a string of non productive days, you have progress everyday.
