When you correct something about yourself the initial reaction is for you to go off course for a while, to struggle and have challenges again. Recalibrating around a new behavior is not easy. If you create a new pattern in life, or a new way of going about things then you can expect disruption for a while. When you have incorporated the new behavior and have worked on it a while, then you will settle into a pattern and find yourself much better for the new change.
However, if you get really frustrated by the temporary setback and get rid of the new behavior too quickly then you will never really learn to make improvements in life.
