Day 146 – CAPUCHI: Means Something to Me!

I’ve embarked on an inventive journey: creating my own words. This decision stems from numerous motivations, of which I’ll delve into the foremost one here. Throughout my day, I strive to keep certain essentials at the forefront of my consciousness—primarily, the goals I’ve set for each significant role in my life. I’ve pinpointed eight key roles that I embody, and for each, I’ve outlined specific objectives I’m actively pursuing. The challenge lies in maintaining a consistent focus on these aspirations, both emotionally and mentally, especially when I’m away from my desk and devoid of my notes.

Over the years, I’ve experimented with numerous strategies to keep my objectives accessible. From carrying a small notebook to utilizing note-taking apps on my phone and even adopting an e-book device for jotting down thoughts. I’ve ventured into creating ‘method of loci’ mind palaces, enabling me to traverse a mental landscape to revisit my goals. While each method has offered some benefit, they’ve also presented limitations. Engaging with these tools often disrupts my natural flow of thought. The act of reaching for an electronic device or navigating through a constructed mental space inadvertently distances me from the spontaneous, organic thinking I find most valuable.

This morning, I meticulously organized the eight pivotal roles in my life, pinpointing the key objectives within each. Inspired to streamline my focus, I embarked on crafting a unique word or phrase that could effortlessly conjure these priorities to mind. Leveraging the capabilities of AI tools, I navigated through an array of unique-sounding syllables and phonetic constructs, all aimed at creating an easily retrievable mental cue for these essential life areas. After a series of trials, I synthesized a term that was both catchy and devoid of existing linguistic associations: ‘CAPUCHI.’ This word, with its whimsical nod to Italian flair or perhaps the echo of a cappuccino, holds no inherent meaning. Its value lies in its simplicity and memorability, making it a perfect vessel for my purpose.

Today, I put ‘CAPUCHI’ to the test, integrating it into my daily routine—running, visiting the gym, preparing for the day, and making breakfast. Remarkably, uttering ‘CAPUCHI’ activated an instant recall of my day’s core focus areas. This was a departure from my usual practice of referring to a notebook or another physical reminder. As I cooked an omelet, the key points I needed to concentrate on surfaced effortlessly in my mind, paving the way for a seamless flow of ideas. Indeed, I had achieved ‘CAPUCHI’! While this word might hold no significance for others, for me, it has become a profound symbol of clarity and intention.

Importantly, ‘CAPUCHI’ stands apart from any associations with capuchin monkeys or Franciscan monks. Instead, it represents a foray into crafting unique, meaningful words that resonate personally, yet remain enigmatic to others. Riding the wave of this success, I’m now developing a second term aimed at evening routines. This new word, ‘Nemtric,’ will serve as a mnemonic anchor, summoning to mind those small yet impactful tasks essential for ending the day on a high note. Tasks that, when completed, significantly enhance the next morning’s start but are often overlooked. The idea of having ‘Nemtric’ as a mental cue for these tasks is exciting; imagine the ease of recalling everything needed to conclude the day perfectly with just a single word.
