For a Cause – 100 Days Left

Wondering this morning if striving to achieve a greater cause then my own interests would be a great way to motivate my progress? I have seen people do wonderful things to help some awesome cause and have been inspired by that. So today marks the 100 days until my 1st attempt at a real marathon race. I have been running long distances, but I think running on a race day with thousands of other participants will be a much different experience. So yesterday I was talking to a friend who was expressing a desire to work toward an opportunity to help a certain cause that was important to her. I thought that was intriguing and then it struck me, I am running this marathon and the event organizers are sponsoring a good cause and I am being lazy and selfish and not advocating for the cause as part of my running experience. So I decided this morning that I was going to get the page setup, set a fundraising goal, and advertise to friends and family the cause and see what happens.

So the charity is St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. I set my goal at $1,000. Here is a link to my donation page if anyone has interest in pitching in a couple of dollars. No worries, I am sure everyone has some cause they already support – but this is my attempt at extending beyond my own selfish ambitions and trying to advocate for others. See if that helps – hey, call me a pragmatist – but if it works and motivates me to be a better person – then why not?
