I am always asking myself what is next? What can I push myself into doing that would change the game. What thing am I not doing now, that if I made a habit out of it would revolutionize my life. Not just make it better, not just improve it slightly, but radically improve things. I have attempted many, failed at many, got a few of them to 365 then gave up because the improvement was not that great.
My latest attempt? Every morning I find a new and interesting person to introduce myself to and then ask for a meeting. I have been at this for several weeks now. It is become a fun game that I play. I wake up in the morning and ponder something interesting and then I consider, who would really know the answer? If I do not have a person in mind, I google around until I find someone.
Then I send a linked-in message, email or other method to that person asking my question and also asking for a meeting. Surprisingly, about 30% of the time I get a response! I have had some fun conversations along the way, and learned a few things as well. As it turns out, even some of the most famous people enjoy talking about what they are interested in. I am not trying to promote myself, or my agenda or anything else. I am just naturally inquisitive, ask them questions, get good responses thank them for their time and move to the next.
I really have no idea where this new habit is going to take me. Who will I meet? What will I learn? What impact will this have on me? It will be fun to maintain this habit for 365 days and find out! This morning, I talked with a research scientist on human behavior in Germany. I think he might let me meet with him in a few months. He has some really compelling research going on and I cannot wait to find out what he says about my discoveries on habits!
