The Zombie Apocalypse

Well I always wanted to know what it would be like to be in a Zombie Apocalypse. This morning when I walked into the local Trader Joe’s I realized that I know knew what it was like. The truck had just delivered the latest stock of food and the local population was literally surrounding the poor workers and almost ripping the rice, bread, and frozen goods out of their hands. This surreal experience was magnified as I walked past a grocery store and peaked inside. The isles were empty of food.

That got me thinking about preparation in times of feast. I am reminded of the biblical story where Joseph interprets pharaoh’s dreams. He explains that there will be 7 years of plenty followed by 7 years of famine. The wise thing to do would be to prepare while you have plenty. That seems like wise advice with our without a prophetic interpretation.

Applying this to my health. I have very little to worry about right now when it comes to my personal health. Any problems I have are for the most part self inflicted. Yet I struggle. What am I going to do if I really do have some physical health challenge? I am going to look back and really wished that I took advantage of the times when I was in optimum health condition. Same goes for financial situation. When I have excess and find myself spending money on trivial things, should I not be wise and prudent and save for times when I might really need the money? The stupid thing I bought today, will not seem that important when I really need money for something critically important.

So my little experience today with the Apocalypse has taught me a valuable lesson. Time to start using my good times to prepare myself for the bad. Feels like a prepared state is always going to be better than being caught off guard.
