Blank is good sometimes. Seriously. I am not just saying that because I could not come with anything clever today. Blank is actually good. If you are like me, you will fight this notion. You have come so accustom to your inner voice running amok that you think it is perfectly acceptable to be constantly stressing or going through things in your mind or filling it with nonsense.
Blank is good. Can you actually sit quietly for an extended period of time and allow yourself to think about nothing, to essentially be still? I bet you cannot and that is why you are so stressed right now. Be still, calm down, give yourself 30 minutes of blank.
Quite literally your mind needs some time. Sleep is supposed to be for that, but unfortunately we all lead these horribly complicated lives with information faucet on full blast. Our minds struggle to find that time to heal, and re-calibrate. Sleep is just not enough.
A tactic that is helping me with this is to use transition times. When I transition between activities, I am taking a few minutes of blank, nothing to allow myself to regroup before I engage in the next activity.
So I am encouraging you to do nothing. Be blank for a little while and see how it feels.
