Deal with it. You are just simply NOT going to complete your list everyday. When you wake up you might have good intentions and put down a very ambitious list. There will be an occasional day when everything works out, you are on top of your game, and you are able to check everything off. Great feeling. However, MOST of the time you will not make it through the list.
When this happens, you report back in prayer at the end of the day and really ponder why you did not get through the list and think of how you can do better in the future. Somethings on this list will not carry forward to the next day. In fact I highly recommend to start the list each morning with only a casual look at past lists. This is not an exercise of getting EVERYTHING done, this is an exercise in getting the most IMPORTANT things done. You do not need a perfect system of capturing all of your to-dos. If you want that kind of system – I can refer you to about 20 self help books that will teach you a system for doing so.
The 365 commitment is about taking control of what you (through inspiration) decide is the most important things you should do today. How are you going to spend this day accomplishing the most important things that you can do to achieve your goals in life? The commitment is not about a task list to nag you all day – it is a reminder to put first things first.
Which leads me to 1,2,3. When you prioritize your list the designation of the top three spots should be considered carefully. After day 22, I have looked back and the first three things I prioritized are usually happening with consistency. The remaining items are accomplished with less frequency. So what are you putting a 1, 2, or 3 next to this morning?
Consider carefully – your end results in life will be based largely on what your 123 is.
What is your 123? Simple question. Ask that as you pray this morning and think of how you are going to use this time today to accomplish great things.
