Day 89 – More on Dragons

Just go ahead an get on the road to slaying that dragon. I know you have a million reasons why you cannot leave right now. Your sword is not sharp enough, your armor is not shiny enough, your squire has not had enough training, you need a better horse – this mule that you have right now is just not good enough for dragon slaying. You know what you need to do. Every knight story starts out the same way – the unprepared, undisciplined, unlikely hero starts out on the journey to go slay the dragon. The hero does not even know the way.

Let me remind you something else about the typical knight story. The mouth of the dragon’s cave is always littered with the bones of the most prepared knights with the brightest shiniest swords. That dragon can only be slain by you, because you are the hero of this story and you have something special that no one else has. I am not talking about the magic ring in your pocket, I am talking about you. Yes you. You are special and there was a reason you were placed on this earth and it is precisely to go slay that dragon.

What are you waiting for? Are you waiting to be told you are a hero? You do not become a hero until you slay that first dragon. So go find the dragon and slay it. I think everyone knows the dragon they have to slay. Maybe not? Maybe I am the only one surrounded by fire breathing, scaled winged beasts with sharp claws and teeth.

Somehow I doubt it.
