The 365 Commitment

Day 97 – Taking Stock

So I am 97 days into my 365 Commitment and I am taking stock on if it has truly helped me or not. I think it has. I think I have a lot of room for improvement, and on some days need to take the commitment more seriously. However, I am testing this basic concept:

If all I had to do was one simple thing every day to accomplish my goals would I do it?

So I am putting my faith in the idea that if I do the 365 commitment everyday, then I will accomplish my goals. I will accomplish what I wrote down at the beginning of this process. I am approaching a major milestone (100 days). I have decided to spend some time today and tomorrow taking stock of where I am at and where I can make improvements to my commitment so that I can absolutely discover if this belief is true or not.

This morning as I did my 47th pushup, 47th squat, 47th situp, 47th day in a row waking at 5am, 47th day in a row running for at least 30 minutes I have to admit to myself that progress is being made. I have NEVER done anything consistent in my life for more then a week, much less a month. I have also written this blog for 97 days in a row and I have kept the steps of the 365 list 97 days in a row. In short, I have learned to build lasting good habits.

Someone commented the other day, wow you are really disciplined. I had to laugh. It was not too long ago that I realized that discipline was a complete myth. Funny, how building just a few good habits can fool other people into thinking you are disciplined. If this person only knew the struggle I am going through to push myself to keeping this basic commitment!

I think I have also learned a few things this last 3 months on perseverance, of will power, of using the power of visioning, and staying focused on what is really important in life. Above all I am more forgiving when I am not perfect because every morning I ride at dawn.
