Day 143 – Do it anyway

I am writing this blog post from an airplane and despite the fact that I would really rather eat these peanuts and try to get some sleep, I am going to do it anyway.

Same thought this morning when I had to arise really early so that I would have time to get to do my 365 commitment before departing for the airport…do it anyway.

As I was running and then doing pushups, I could have taken a shortcut. I had some pretty good excuses. Long trip ahead of me, early flight, important things to worry about…do it anyway.

As I hustled through airport security, I could of found brief satisfaction in grabbing a breakfast bagel sandwich with undisclosed tasty and very unhealthy contents. However, I thought of my commitment to measure my food and reached into my backpack and grabbed a few healthy items that I had bought at a healthy store last night and I resolved that I would…do it anyway.

Tomorrow morning, I will find a way to do my morning routine again. I will not fall victim to unhealthy behavior while traveling. I have a commitment to keep and I am going to do it anyway.

Next time your weak mind tries to come up with an excuse to get you out of your commitments, consider this phrase. Drag yourself out of bed, sit in a place where you can quietly contemplate your day, bust out the 365 commitment journal and do it anyway.
