Day 355 – Find Your Center

For several months now, I have been following a few different meditation routines. More as an experiment to see what works. There is one that starts out with a concept of finding your center.

I always thought this was physical. Somewhere in your physical body, or mind there is a center point. You can focus on that center and find a calming point to focus on.

However, this morning I realized that the concept of the center means something else entirely. You center is the core principle of who you are at what you are going to become. If asked, could you quickly find your center or would it take you a long time because you have not sorted out who you are much less what you will become.

In moments of panic, stress, or important decision making being able to quickly find your center has some advantages. You can focus quickly on what is important and give yourself quick perspective when needed in a pinch. Also, if you do not know your center how easy is it to become unbalanced.

So perhaps finding your center is really important? I have heard this guided meditation say that hundreds of times – guess it finally got through!
