Blog 112 -Tracking Increments

By the end of this week, I will reach a milestone goal of 100 pushups with feet raised. I’m still doing sets of 20 reps to get there. My actual goal is 4 sets of 25.

Same with pullups, I will reach a milestone of 50. However, I’m getting there with rep s of 6 or 7 sometimes 4. Pullups are challenging when you weigh 215+. My goal is 5 sets of 10.

To me, incremental improvement means adding a little each week. The practice of slowly building is a dicipline that I need to get better at. And, physical exercise is conducive to this process, just adding a rep each time is straightforward. But, what about other habits? Like habits of mind and personal behavior? For example, how can I incrementally improve my commitment to speak in ways that are more encouraging and soothing, also kown here as my Bob Ross and Mr. Rogers mode?

Perhaps, the answer is to increase focus and quality in these areas and begin rating myself when I check in at night?

Incremental improvement is a requirement, so today I will work on strategies for improving the quality of my personal habits, not just my physical ones, but also  habits of mind. I will also think about how to track or measure incremental progress in theses areas. Perhaps a combination of consecutive days with a particular score would work. Measurement and tracking keep us on track with incremental improvement.

So, write it down and slowly improve and keep yourself accountable and on track. Of course I am writing to myself here because this is what I need to hear today.   If it helps you, the all the better!
