Blog 176 – Make it Happen

Woke up at 2:30 this morning and could not get back to sleep. So, I’m doing some laundry and planning my day. It’s nice having some daily good habits, like writing every morning, to add some consistency and structure to my day.

Today I plan on spending some quality time with my kids at the beach. I scored a couple nice old school boogie boards at a garage sale a while back. When I bought them I envisioned riding waves with my kids and having a blast together. But, I have yet to make it happen. Today is the day!

Make it happen! I am the sort who likes to make things happen. “Make it happen” is a phrase that inspires me, gives me hope, and gets me excited. Just follow a simple formula 1) Envision a future experience you want 2) do some planning 3) pay attention and gather resources 4) Work work work 5) Make it happen!

Sometimes it takes a while to make things happen. Doesn’t matter, stay the course, focus on incremental steps towards the experience you have envisioned. Making worthwhile things happen creates meaning in life.

Life is still difficult, that is a given. There is no escape from that. We all experience this same existential reality. The key is to create experiences that off-set or counterbalance the fundamental difficulty of life.

So, make something good happen today! Be that kind of person. Use the 365 Commitment to make it happen in your life, in greater abundance, and with greater frequency.
