Blog 195 – Taking Stock

I’m past the halfway point for this years journey,  it’s almost August.  So, this morning I’m sort of taking stock and cataloging where I’m at.

I have been 100% on my daily coffee consumption!  And I always turn the shower to cold at the end – for better or worse this has become a solid habit.

I have managed to start a number of good habits this year with reasonably good results. For example,  I incrementally increased pushups until I could do 4 sets of 25 with my feet elevated twice a week.  I incrementally increased pull-ups until I could complete 50 twice a week, I do sprints on a hill by my house once a week and am now up to nine sets (started with 3) and will soon move to 10 sets.  I have managed to write this daily blog so far beginning in early Jan 2019, and keep my daily 365 list and prayers.  I have not been perfect on any of these, but pretty close if we apply horseshoe and hand grenade standards – which I will!

I wish I could report amazing success on a number of other daily habits I started that became sporadic or fizzled out.  My carnivore diet (fat as fuel) lasted about 40 days. My daily morning routine of rising at 5am, applying coconut oil to skin (to battle tinea versicolor), Wim Hoff breathing method, 15-20min  meditation practice, daily air-squats, and daily reading and applying one page “Elements of Style,”  weight lifting routine, and monthly 3-day fast have all become sporadic at various intervals.

A quote from Winston Churchill comes to mind “Never, never, never give up!”   OK Winston  . . . I think you are right  – I will not.
