I learned something new yesterday. My commitment to reach out to new people everyday has led me down some interesting paths. So I was talking to a rather famous ultra runner and along the way I got some pointers about running, or perhaps life, or perhaps both?

When talking about form, running form in this context, he told me that I needed to reach out and grab the moon. At least if I am in North America where the moon primarily is about 30 to 40 degrees off the horizon before it begins to set. The technical reason he was saying this was that by reaching out and trying to grab the moon, I was leaning forward, chest out, head up and falling into the correct running form.

I was wondering as I learned this concept if he was really just talking about running, because the lines between running form and good form in general seem a little blurry. As I reach toward any objective, should I not be learning forward, head up and falling in the direction of my success? Should we all be seeking to grab the moon when trying to accomplish something?

Well, reaching, grabbing, stealing, lassoing and even landing on the moon has been a part of our culture for a long time. The symbolism behind the concept is an important consideration. So when life gets dark and dreary, or you have some great hill to climb just look to the horizon and imagine yourself grabbing the moon (or whatever the moon represents. Perhaps the result of such a thought, will put you back in the right form.
