The 365 Commitment

Day 117 – The Greatest Gift

The greatest gift one can offer another is to assist them in realizing their potential. Every human soul harbors latent potential, which is not always immediately apparent. When you manage to carve out time and possess the capacity to delve into another’s soul, recognizing their untapped potential and then extending a supportive hand to elevate them to their fullest stature, you offer an incomparable gift.

In my view, this is the most sublime offering. Reflect upon your life and you’ll realize that chances to bestow this gift are rare in our brief existence. Often, we are engulfed in our own worries, concerns, and ambitions, blind to the precious souls we might encounter. Yet, there are fleeting moments, scarce as they may be, when you can truly connect with another, perceive their potential, and have the privilege to present this wondrous gift. For parents, this opportunity is inherent.

Have you ever been graced with this supreme gift? Has a parent, grandparent, friend, or even a stranger uplifted you, helping your potential reach its zenith? I urge you to share these stories, for they are profoundly inspiring.

My family—my mother, father, and grandparents—have all contributed to my journey toward realizing my potential. But there was one stranger who, on a pivotal day, offered his support. He inquired if he could assist me, unknowingly answering a prayer and buoying my spirits at a critical juncture. I later discovered that this elderly gentleman had weathered his own life’s trials, and on the day we met, he was deeply concerned about his future. What drove him to notice me at that crucial moment? While we might ponder spiritual reasons, as I often do, the essence of this narrative is to highlight that we all have the capacity to bestow this ultimate gift, provided we simply open our eyes and remain attentive.
