Day 196 – Outcomes of Habits

So several weeks ago, in celebration of my 1/2 way point I added a few new habits. Three. I added meditation, a nightly financial review, and scripture (or other important reading). I will focus on the outcome of meditation today.

Just a side note – I was of the camp that meditation was hocus pocus and rather silly. So the first outcome of my habit development in this area – is that I have changed my mind. I have now done meditation every day for 30 minutes. Let me highlight the outcomes thus far:

  1. Clearing my mind is very helpful. It helps me to prepare to have a meaningful prayer.
  2. I have a tool for anxiety reduction now – and it works.
  3. I sit straighter now and have greater flexibility in my hips.
  4. I am breathing by starting in my diaphragm, with a more full breath. This has improved my exercise as well.
  5. I start the day with the ability to focus on what is important – making the 365 list more pertinent to what I really care about.
  6. Starting out in the morning with meditation is a great way to start and a great way to end the day.

I am not at habit yet, I am in the “suck” time where I have to force myself. However, the outcome is great in my initial test – so it has fully qualified for the 365 Commitment!
