It always starts with one. The one with the passion. My daughter and I went and participated in the Grateful Dead at the Movies where they played one of their 1972 concerts in Copenhagen Denmark. That show highlights a song at the beginning and end by Ron “pigpen” McKernan. Most people do not know that it was pigpen that was the passion behind starting a blues band, which initially was called the Warlocks. He recruited the initial members and of course the local banjo, steel guitar instructor Jerry Garcia was a good candidate. Later that year, he would die from drinking himself to death, unfortunately. People do not remember him much, but it was his idea, his vision, his passion that started one of the most remarkable musical groups in human history. Could you be the one? Day 309 – The Price Tag of Automation
The author recounts his frustrating experience with home automation after Google abandoned its Nest architecture, leading him to build his own system. He highlights the significant time and effort required for maintenance and the eventual abandonment of his automation efforts due to the high ‘economic life’ cost. However, with the advent of AI, the cost and effort of automation have decreased, making it more feasible and renewing his interest in deploying future automations.
