Blog 137 Daily Re-Commitment

It’s a new day! When my daughter was a toddler, in the morning she would stand up in bed and say “It’s new day Daddy!”  Her joy at the prospect of the new day was contagious.  Lately, I find myself enjoying each new morning, a giddy feeling of joy will bubble up, and the possibilities and opportunities are glorious to behold.  Feeling that childlike joy causes re-remembering that each day is a gift not a curse.

It’s not always so, I can get too focused on  the treadmill of work and worries, the grind of daily obligations.   Days can feel like they are coming too fast, too many demands creates a sense of being overwhelmed and colors the dawn of a new morning with low level dread and apprehension chasing away the possibility of contentment and joy for the day.  Not good.

However, as a natural consequence of keeping a my 365 Commitment morning routine, I’ve noticed that my mindset is is more often oriented toward seeing life as a gift, and feeling gratitude .    Just as we can experience incremental improvement with the physical through daily disciplined exercise, we can experience the strengthening of our 365 Commitment through daily incremental focus. Daily re-commitment happens as a matter of course each time I focus on my daily list, it reinforces my commitment to my goals.

Each morning I address my list and reflect on what I will choose to focus on for the day.  Inherently, I see opportunity and the potential for gratitude rises by habitually orienting or mindset toward what I want.  This focus somehow protects me from feeling overwhelmed.  Maybe the act of choice confers a feeling of control, or maybe it filters out unwanted experience.  Probably both.

Daily re-commitment and focus on what is most important each day help us to experience each day as a gift.  The 365 Commitment makes things better.

It’s a new day!
