Day 243 – The Body is the Mind

I have never believed in any of the hocus pocus associated with meditation. I have always considered meditation as somehow beneficial, but did not really find out why. Now that I have been attempting meditation for 60 days in a row, I am starting to really think about meditation as a beneficial discipline.

A concept that I encountered this morning relates to the mind. I have been trying to slow the mind down and not allow myself to think about things, and so I spend a considerable amount of time focusing on what I think the mind is. It occurred to me that perhaps the “mind” is not just the part that is active and conscious.

After some research, I am now understanding this whole concept of body centers. Effectively, 7 areas of the body that have their own mind. This completely made sense this morning, as I have overcome improper eating I have seen massive improvements in other areas. Too much focus on an area seems to be a bad idea.

I am beginning to realize that the mind is much more powerful and extensive. There is also a significant brain that is operating behind the scenes and that not all of it is in between the ears.

Anyway, regardless of all that, meditation has been helping me in significant ways.
