Day 2 of my 84 day sprint. I think I am crazy. I was already pushing the envelope and now here I am, striving to improve my state. Just to catalog.
– Wake up at 5am (I now go to bed and wake up at the same time everyday, have been doing that a long time).
– Perform the 365 Commitment formula, resulting a list of prioritized things to accomplish today.
– 15 Minute Meditation exercise, I am now focused on proper breathing. I kept an even pattern of breath until I was able to stop thinking about random stuff.
– Uplifting Reading Session – I read something spiritual, uplifting every morning. Today is no different.
– Ran 6 Miles on a awesome outdoor trail run.
– Started my Day
– Throughout the day I tried to eat on my new program. I am eating a lot more then usual, cleaner foods, but more volume. Feels like I am eating to much, but I have a lot more energy and less desire for sugar, caffeine and other stimulants. Have to spend more time thinking about this.
– Finished my Day
– Performed a 30 minute mobility training exercise that I have worked out. Focused on core strength, stretching muscles and increasing range of motion.
– Writing this blog.
– Finished the Day with the 365 commitment formula.
We will see if this Sprint helps me improve rapidly, or get locked into a pattern that is consistent to cause a leap frog of forward progress.
During the day, I reflected on the excitement of new programs. Due to a conversation that I had with my son, I remembered the excitement and energy that I pursued learning new technologies in the beginning of my career. This caused me to think that much of our challenges in making progress is they way our mind views what we are doing. When I was young and just starting to learn Computer Science, I had no idea how elementary the things that I was learning were. I had no idea that the gap between me and the people I aspired to be was so large. I was new, excited and jumping into it with no thought or concern. I was just excited to be learning.
I am taking that tact now with my sprint. Sure there are much better, more in shape people then me. There are people that have this all figured out, but I am just jumping in. Set myself on a course with a few commitments, and powering my energy into something for 12 weeks – and I am going to just see what happens.
I started in the tech business because I pretended that I could teach Microsoft Excel to an accounting firm and landed my first consulting gig in the early 90s. What a stupid thing to do, but if I had not have spent that weekend cramming on the fools errand, then I probably would not have got that next gig. So in that same spirit, the youthful spirit, I am jumping in. Pretending that I know what I am doing, but all the time realizing just how reckless it all is.

Love the fake it till you make it mentality, I end up using that a lot at school when I read material and need to write a response about it without really processing the material.
Good for you. Keep faking it until you do!
