Our society seems to be debating about what values should be the most important and in many cases what the definition of a value is. Diversity, justice, equality are examples. Those are definitely hotly contested. Those who argue that they should be primary values are largely unaware of the antagonism that exists and why it is there. I understand why this happens, we all get a focused view that excludes other viewpoint that were built in a separate foundation.

On such foundation was people that believe that one of the paramount values is respect. This is really hard for someone advocating for a decision to focus on a desired outcome to comprehend. However, should we really diminish respect of others, our elders, our institutions, and even our guests. Why should I respect something that has produced the current state or so days later.

The point is we cannot ignore the respect of those who have come.
