We don’t listen enough. Listen, really listen.

Listening requires you to be still.

Listening requires you to be silent.

Listening requires you to stay calm.

Listening requires patience.

Listening is something that you can always do, and it requires you to really pay attention to your surroundings.

I am not talking about Listening to people, although that is important.

I am talking about listening to the waves crash against the shore.

The birds at play in the small shrub outside of your window.

The steady drip of a faucet.

The whisper sound made by a small leaf dragging across your porch.

The flap of a lacewing buzzing by the porch light.

Listen. It is the first step in becoming mindful.
