Sick Days? – 75 Days Left

So do I get to have a sick day?

Really interesting question. Do I get to take time off from my personal commitments because I am sick today? I suppose I can argue that I should take time off, that taking it easy is the right thing to do when you are sick. I could, I suppose, use the excuse that the best thing to do when I am sick is rest and get better.

Hmm….

As you might of guessed, I woke up sick today. Feeling pretty bad, cold/flu symptoms. I thought that I dodged the bullet. I thought, just maybe, that I had built up some super human ability to counter illness and disease. Well, no such luck. I got sick. I have not been sick for well over 450 days. The reason I know this is because I have been counting each day that I incrementally do certain habits. I just have not recorded a sick day in a long time.

So right now is the first time I have had to deal with this question since I started my commitment. There have been times I felt bad, or down, or discouraged. I knew the answer then. But, I am definitely legitimately sick. So I guess that entitles me to a day off. Or does it?

Hmm….

I am really not THAT sick. I will pretend to be on my death bed so that my wife gives me sympathy (yes, women out there, your husbands are putting on an act, I am violating the secret man code by saying this) but I am really not so sick that I could not keep my commitments. So do I take the day off and dismiss my commitments?

NO! Never give up! Never give in. I am going to keep my commitments anyway, and I am not going to let some silly cold virus get in my way either. I am lacing up the shoes and going for a run. I am going to get my 365 list done today, and I am going to take one step forward. Maybe a lot smaller step then normal, maybe a weak and frail step, but a step it is going to be.
