A theme I have been working on for years has to do with the concept of the One. This has increased in complexity and has multiple meanings for me, but the concept of picking the one has become a reminder to me of what is the most vitally important.

The first concept is focus. I need to have one thing that is the most important for me to focus on in my life, my year, my month, my week, and my day. One thing requires incredible maturity to pick and isolate your time and energy to what has the absolute most value. This is tough but necessary. What is my one thing right now?

The second concept is a reminder to me that the most significant and influential way to communicate with others is directly with the one. Myself and others are the most inspired by direct and one on one conversation. You can not substitute that with anything. You can never underestimate the power of a single conversation can have on your life, the life of another and the magnification that takes place afterward. What is the one conversation that I need to have today?

The third concept is the powerful phrase that I ask myself everyday. Who is the person that I can meet today that will have the greatest influence on my life? This may not become true today or any day, but it is an attitude. If I start each day truly believing that I will meet someone that will change my life then it alters my behavior. I am open to opportunities, bold in my approach to new people and eager to learn from others. Who is the one that I am going to meet today?

The last concept is the most important. It is the concept of service and giving all that I have to help another. I do not have enough influence or help everyone, but I can certainly be an instrument to help a few, perhaps only one. I picked the one 22 years ago. Well, check that, she picked me is more accurate.  She is still, for the most part, the one that I consider on this last question. My kids, family members, friends and an occasional stranger will also make it to this spot as well. The last question is who is the one?
