Day 51 – Eat a Live Frog

Advice from Mark Twain – Eat a live frog first thing in the morning, and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.

Of course he was referring to tackling your biggest problems first while you have the will power and then the rest of the day will seem easy by comparison. This is one of the concepts I gained from reading a blog this morning on FastCompany:

A few things from this blog that inspired me. First, we are absolutely on the right track. The 365 commitment is backed by scientific research that confirms why creating a morning list is a powerful tool. Second, there are many other great minds out there that are doing a very similar concept.

I am not sure I am comfortable with the question that Steve Jobs asked himself every morning – If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today? He says that if answered “no” too many days in a row – then we would change his life. The reason that I am not comfortable? I am afraid that I might answer “no” to a few things that I am doing today!!

I really like what Ron Friedman says – every morning contemplate what the end of the day would be like: The day is over and I am leaving the office with a tremendous sense of accomplishment. What have I achieved?

Finally, I like the author’s “tomorrow list” concept. It is similar to the 365 commitment – end of day review. Where you ask questions. How did I do today? What did I miss that I have to do tomorrow?
