My wife asked my 90+ year old grandmother what the secret to a long and happy marriage was. My grandmother had been married 70 years or so. Her answer was, “Keep My Damn Mouth Shut.”
If you knew my grandmother you would know how hilarious that statement was especially from her. However, there is a great lesson to this comment. How many times are we quick to offer an opinion, make a statement, draw a conclusion when the best response is just nothing.
I have so much to learn. Maybe when I am in my 90s, I too will have learned this valuable lesson. Sometimes it is better to just not say anything.
