Darn it. Goals are important. This is one of the cold hard realities that you just have to reconcile. If you want to have success, or progress you have to set, and track your progress against goals. Sorry, wandering aimless throughout the day just will not get it done. No goals. No progress.
Here is the deal. Planning for and figuring out appropriate goals is not easy, especially when you fail or dont get it right. Even worse is the agonizong part of actually doing work toward an acheivable objective. It is so much easier to drift in and out of life with no specific requirements. Just bounce around and hope that what you generally want gets granted somehow.
Just the act of setting a goal has a tendancy to produce results, try writing them down! Having a written goal just seems to produce results all by itself! Seriously though, creating, writing down goals is the first important step, but the most important is the development of the measure. Goals become objectives via clear amd well defined measures. I have discovered that the creation of a real way to measure your progress is the hardest part of the goal setting process. There is a lot of truth to the concept that you can only succeed at what you actively measure.
This blog is just my way of motivating myself to set some new goals tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
