I have been evaluating some habit forming research and paying attention to some people that have been vocal to the concept. I am validating some of my ideas on habits against what others are saying. I have two to cover in this blog, one where I am in the right path and one that I overlooked.
The easy one is the concept of starting small. If you want to create a habit, then what you start doing every day should be really easy. The reason is because it takes significant motivation and will power to just keep the habit, much less a hard one. We should let things get harder over time.
The other issue that I overlooked is that of trigger. It is a good to consider things you do everday that could act as a reminder to engage a specific habit. Simple concept really, but being aware of what triggers you or what could trigger you to do good things rather than bad is critical to habit forming.
