The 365 Commitment

Day 101 – Ten Good Decisions

This morning while doing my morning run I had a concept that bounced around in my head for awhile. Now, let me take a pause here. I ran this morning and I actually enjoyed it. I think this might have been the first time where it was not a grueling experience where I almost died just to get to the end. I have had moments where I felt good, followed by multiple steps of misery. However, today was a good day. There really is truth to the natural high that people talk about after exercise. I was very tired this morning, discouraged, and stressed. However after this morning run I feel pretty good and the run was not tough for me – in fact it was rather easy. I ran further then I normally do and probably could have kept going. Amazing what 51 days of repetitive behavior can accomplish.

Back to concept I was noodling on. The one major thing you have control over during the day is the decisions that you make. What choices you select. Your circumstances could be really good or really bad, but you still will have to make decisions. You are still free to choose no matter how overwhelmed you feel. You can still decide to do the right things, the best thing to help you in your current situation.

Have you considered actually consciously tracking the decisions that you make? Here is my concept I am going to try today – it is part of my 365 Commitment. I know what my goals are, so I am going to count the good decisions that I make today. I will know it is a good decisions when it helps me get closer to my goals. I am going to count them as I make them and my goal is to get to 10 good decisions today.

This should be interesting! Can I actually get to 10 good decisions? I supposed I can already start to count and say that I decided to run (that is 1) and that I decided to do my pushups, situps, and squats (that is 2) and that I decided to write this blog (that is 3) and that I decided to eat a healthy breakfast (that is 4). So I am already at 4, pretty good start for the day!

Well now I am heading off to work. Who is going to present me with an opportunity to make a good decision that helps me achieve my goals!?
