Day 6 – Staying Calm

My daily motivational email almost included a recap of some salient points about following this simple commitment. However, this morning – it happened! I knew it was coming. That morning when I wake up and all is NOT well. I am troubled about something at work, I am really agonizing about a problem and I just cannot focus on much other then the problem! This causes stress and anxiety and if you are anything like me – I just do not handle that very well! Oh, I solve the problem – I am pretty good at that – but not without consequences. Those are usually harming my personal health, my family relationships and forgetting to spend time on the valuable commitments that I have made to myself and others.

So this morning as I woke up and immediately jumped on my email and started to try and solve the big problem – I reminded myself of my 365 commitment. I took a deep breath and told myself, 10 minutes is not going to hurt. You can solve the problem AFTER you take a few moments to evaluate your priorities in life, make a task list and have a quiet moment in prayer.

Sure enough (it was not easy at first) my mind cleared. The problem got smaller and I realized that I was in control and I do not need to let a problem (that was created by others) destroy my most important objectives right now.

Cant say that I am not still really stressed out about it, nor can I say it is solved yet. However, I can say that I feel better. I feel in charge. I know when I am going to commit time today to work on the problem. I have decided to work on it AFTER I do a few important tasks that I decided upon in my 365 session this morning.

I think this simple technique we have committed to is really powerful.
